Our Ethos

Drumbeat is a collaboration.

It will become stronger because the partners are experienced in joint working and committed to collaboration.

But we also acknowledge that we all have different skills and expertise and that only by sharing our resources we will eliminate threats to the project.

A collaboration can only work when partners adhere to the following rules:

  1. All agencies are equal in status.
  2. Partners respect all agencies in the collaboration.
  3. All partners are involved in innovation and exchange.
  4. All agencies are represented on the Festival Board.
  5. All concept papers and production notes are distributed to all in order to attract input.
  6. All agencies invest time in research, thinking and experimentation in order to bring new musical challenges to the collaboration.

New agencies

We must attract other cultures. More cultural content needs to be added to the collaboration. We need to attract expertise in music and education, working with people with disabilities and the elderly, bringing in more cultural expertise into the collaboration eg groups from South America, Far East, Japan, The Middle East, European and percussion agencies and groups from all the countries in the UK.

New areas for extensive development.

Drumbeat-Heartbeat will need to connect with more London Boroughs, The Mayor’s Office and his advisers, other London based agencies which will be able to advise the support Drumbeat-Heartbeat as a social enterprise with clear targets for inclusion and employment and so on. Mirador will produce a draft paper for discussion.
