Why Heartbeat?
Our aim is to create access to an international audience by presenting one of the most common and creative journeys to reflect different cultures across the globe.
A mother's heartbeat provides the first experience of 'percussion' for an unborn child. It creates a bond between the mother and child.
Various forms of percussion are used internationally to celebrte the rites of passage – journeys through life are punctuated with musical events to celebrate birth, childhood, coming of age, events in young people's lives, marriage, birth of a grandchild, onset of old age and finally death.
Percussion is a musical partner througout our lives and it ends, when the heartbeat stops.
